In Short
Influenced by an eclectic mix of music from around the world, Jordan has developed a unique voice that sounds as at home in avant-garde contemporary music as it does in the deeply rooted traditional. He believes music has the power to transcend societal boundaries and his artistic philosophy centers community and connectedness. As such, Jordan can be found working as a drummer, writer, teacher, performance artist, and administrator in hopes of creating a community that is accepting of all minds, bodies, and sounds.
Jordan holds a Master's degree in Jazz Pedagogy from the Frost school of Music, and a Master's degree in Musicology from the University of Wisconsin. He has also studied Cuban music in Camaguey, Cuba, and Brazillian music at the California Brazil Camp in Cazadero, CA. Jordan is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Music Studies from the University of Wisconsin, where he is a teaching assistant and graduate fellow. His research broadly addresses the commodification of identity on the music scenes in and around Madison.
